NNJCA.TCML US-0029 is affiliated with Northern New Jersey Chinese Association (nnjca.org), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Taiwan Center of Mandarin Learning (TCML) is a program established and funded by US and Taiwan governments. The U.S. -Taiwan Education Initiative was signed between the U.S. and Taiwan on December 2, 2020. Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) of Taiwan then established this TCML network with American Institute in Taiwan (AIT *) to enhance bilateral language cooperation. So far, there are 18 TCML centers established, 15 in the U.S., 3 in Europe.

TCML program offers language learners, 18 years and older, an opportunity to learn Mandarin Chinese language and Taiwanese culture. Through the program, the students also have the opportunity to receive future wonders that OCAC offers, including language and culture exchange with Taiwanese people.

Based on the Chinese School (nnjcacs.org) founded in 1981 in Montville area, Northern New Jersey Chinese Association (NNJCA), has excellent resources in teaching Mandarin Chinese. We have recently obtained approval from OCAC to set up a TCML in northern New Jersey area.

* The Taiwan Relations Act (PL 96-8) of April 10, 1979, provided that “any programs, transactions, or other relations conducted or carried out by the President or any Agency of the United States Government with respect to Taiwan shall, in the manner and to the extent directed by the President, be conducted and carried out by or through the American Institute in Taiwan.” The Department of State, through a contract with the Institute, provides a large part of AIT’s funding and guidance in its operations. Congress, in passing the Taiwan Relations Act, also assumed an oversight role with respect to the Institute’s operations. ~ AIT website www.ait.org.tw/our-relationship/policy-history/
